The Giving Partners emerged out of an unlikely friendship between Brian, a former businessman from the US, and Karim, a young dentist from Guinea in west Africa.
Karim had recently launched a dental clinic committed to serving those who couldn't access or afford quality dental care. He had all of the smarts and initiative he needed, but felt that a Mentor might help him with the "business" and leadership skills he needed to build a high impact and, most importantly, sustainable social enterprise. Thanks to MicroMentor.org for being the incredible organization that brought us together and inspired us to do this work.
Fast forward 8 years and Dentistes du Sud is one of the largest and modern dental clinics in Guinea and now Karim is both a Mentor and inspiration to many in Guinea and beyond.
Our relationship has tought us so much more than either of us could have immagined about how committment and partnership can lead to powerful social impact as well as the kind of friendship we all hope to have in our lives.
So, together with our families, we decided to create The Giving Partners with the goal of "passing along" some of the same blessings we have received while working together to have a lasting impact on communities in need.
